01. COST-EFFECTIVENESS IS THE BASIS

In Molehouse, we provide you with long-term measurements in order to find out where you can save. The original heating system in Molehouse_I was based on solar panels and wood-burning stove with heat exchanger.

If you have a property big enough to plant 40 fast-growing Paulownias, you will become completely self-sufficient in heating.

The long-term investment in more expensive water underfloor heating will result in low wood consumption of €180 a year.

02. SIMPLE HEATING SYSTEM

Based on the results of measurements and owners’ experience, we designed a simpler heating system for you. Why? Just like the cheapest energy is the one you do not need, the cheapest heating is the one you do not need, too.

Since the temperature in Molehouse needs only to be adjusted according to your desire, we install only minimum of heating technology, which in addition is very simple to use. The good news is that it is possible to heat up Molehouse with only 3 to 4 stacked cubic metres of wood per year.

Heating system of the Molehouse_II includes:

  1. A briquette or wood-burning stove, without heat exchanger, with the lowest power available of 7kW
  2. Radiant heating panels on the ceiling
  3. A storage water heater in the bathroom, and possibly a water heater in the kitchen

The heating system of the Molehouse_II has several advantages. Most importantly, it is not expensive to install. Then, you have a wood-burning stove that functionates without electricity. Even if the fire dies out, the heating panels will comfortably keep the heat in.

03. EFFICIENT USE OF RESOURCES

Experience suggests that people use wood-burning stoves whenever it’s cold or damp outside. At those moments the house does not receive any heat, instead, it loses on temperature. A wood-burning stove or a fireplace compensate the accumulated heat. The radiant heating panels are in the house only for the maximum comfort.

Although Molehouse is not a perpetual motion machine, it does not need wood-burning stove nor radiant heating panels during the sunny days.

The results of measurements showed that only ¼ of the total electricity used for PC, lighting, cooking and heating in Molehouse is actually used for the very heating.

The original heating system of Molehouse_I can still be installed.

Minimum energy, maximum benefit.
